Overview: Guggulsterone is a phytosteroid found in the resin of the guggul plant, Commiphora mukul. Gugul has been traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat a wide range of illnesses including rheumatism, arthritis, neurological diseases, hemorrhoid urinary disorders, and skin diseases. Guggul is used to balance the doshas and clear the obstruction of channels.

Today, it is used to treat high cholesterol. Guggulsterones also increase the thyroid gland’s ability to produce hormones which increase how it is utilized in the body.
